Durland Alternatives Library : 40th Anniversary Celebration
Live Old Time Music! Free Food! July 1st, 5pm 8pm at the Durland Alternatives Library 127 Anabel Taylor Hall Cornell University Campus (free parking on campus after 5pm)
Come celebrate the Alternatives Library’s 40th Anniversary! With food, live music, presentations, and activities for kids – there’s no better time to browse our unique collection. This event is free and open to the public.
Since its founding in 1974, the library continues its mission of supporting social change and transformative action. Prisoner Express, one of our core programs, provides correspondence and reading materials for thousands of people incarcerated in the US prison system.
Throughout the years, the Library has expanded to become a multifaceted organization–using our collection to empower experimentation, collaboration, and social action. This event is a celebration of this history and a commitment to continue our important work.
The event is free and open to the public. Children are welcome! Besides our amazing children’s book collection, there will be games–including a people’s history scavenger hunt! If you’ve been wanting to stop by, or have never experienced the Alternatives Library, now’s your chance!
The Durland Alternatives Library is a project of the Center for Transformative Action (CTA) http://www.centerfortransformativeaction.org
The Durland Alternatives Library is wheelchair accessible and handicap parking is available at the front of the building. Food provided at this event will include sugarfree, gluten free, and vegan options. The Alternatives Library is a fragrancefree space, please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne. Thanks!
