GigaOm: Movile brings its kids video service to two dozen more countries

Play Kids, the mobile subscription service for kids’ content, is going places: Latin American mobile entertainment company Movile announced Thursday that Play Kids is now available in 24 additional countries, including France, Germany, Australia, Mexico and a number of Latin American countries. Movile also signed additional content deals for Play Kids, bringing videos featuring Barney, Thomas, YoGabbaGabba, Strawberry Shortcake and other popular kids characters to a number of countries around the world.

Play Kids is a subscription service specialized in content for kids between the age of 2 and 5; the app, which is available for both iOS and Android, offers access to a number of videos as well as games. Movile co-founder and head of U.S. operations Eduardo Henrique told me during an interview Wednesday that the new content won’t be available in every territory, as Movile is typically striking licensing deals region by region.
