Brief Bio:  Saviana Stanescu (www.saviana.com) is a Romanian-born award-winning playwright. Recent productions include: Ants at NJ Rep, Aliens With Extraordinary Skills (Women’s Project, NYC; Sacramento, California; Cincinnati, Oklahoma City, Mexico City; published by Samuel French), Waxing West (La MaMa Theatre, NYC, 2007 NY Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Full-Length Script), For a Barbarian Woman(Fordham/Ensemble Studio Theatre), Polanski Polanski (HERE, PS122, Chain Theatre). Her plays have been developed at: Lark Play Development Center, New York Theatre Workshop, New York Stage & Film, Long Wharf Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, New Group, PS122, HERE, et al. She holds an MA in Performance Studies (Fulbright) and an MFA in Dramatic Writing, both from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, and a PhD in Theatre Studies from National University for Theatre & Film in Bucharest, Romania. Saviana has taught at NYU, Strasberg Institute for Theatre & Film, ESPA, Primary Stages, Instituto Cultural Helénico in Mexico City, etc. Currently, she is Assistant Professor of Playwriting & Theatre Arts at Ithaca College. Saviana founded Immigrants Artists and Scholars in New York (IASNY) and curates “playgroundezero” and NEW YORK WITH AN ACCENT.
